The position, reporting to the Assistant Director of CSU Bookstore of Textbooks/Course Materials, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Course Materials Department, while ensuring course materials are available before the beginning of each semester.
Establishes open to buy for course materials
Directs and motivates full time and student employees
Manages all functions of course materials department such as collection of adoptions, ordering and returning of materials
Authorizes payment of invoices, and collection of credits
Provides information to departments on campus, such as collected and missing adoptions
Leads Course Materials Department in successfully providing course materials for the CSU community.
Formulates and establishes course materials quantities needed for each title ordered each semester.
Manages ordering process for $8,500,000 in course materials from publisher and used book distributors.
Ensures course materials are available at the established dates, before classes start.
Monitors the returning of any unneeded textbooks, then recommends if books should be returned or sold off.
Establishes timeline with Receiving Department for shipments to arrive to meet their staffing and timing requirements.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two years of college store experience, or comparable combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience supervising employees, including creating and administering annual reviews.
Experience with purchasing options/decisions, such as open to buy processes.
Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and cultural background, disability, and sexual orientation of students, faculty and staff.
Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date
Experience with MBS POS/Inventory Management System.
Experience working in college/university bookstore operation.
Demonstrated experience establishing relationships with internal and external partners.
Ability to work in fast paced, shared office with interruptions.
