SUMMARY: Manages 1 – 5 full-time employees and approximately 20 – 30 part time student employees in warehouse operations. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Additional responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; budgeting, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performances; rewarding, coaching and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DEPENDING ON LOCATION:

Manages the receiving, pricing, storing, shipping and distribution to stores of all merchandise including texts, general books, general merchandise and computer hardware and software for resale in campus store.
Plans, organizes and determines utilization of work force, equipment and operating methods.
Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties and tasks.
Determines completeness, accuracy, and condition of incoming shipments.
Handles problems with receipt of goods as they arrive.
Ensures merchandise received is processed and coded correctly for resale demands.
Maintains records, files, forms, logs, back stock, and non-current merchandise.
Enforces security and safekeeping of merchandise, supplies, fixtures, and other company assets.
Maintains quality of handling and “tagging” of merchandise to prevent defacement, damage or price switching.
Monitors and ensures daily compliance for safe working procedures and practices.
Responsible for training, development and evaluation of full-time and part-time staff. May perform work of subordinates as needed.
Works with the store managers in the planning and execution of the logistics involved in bookstore events and projects.
Develops and maintains working relationships with customers, coworkers, vendors, student organizations, faculty, staff, and University personnel.
Responsible for ensuring continued compliance with all local, state and federal health, safety and employment laws and regulations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The minimum requirement for applicants is a Bachelor’s degree, plus three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong communications, supervisory skills, and organizational skills are required. A valid state driver’s license is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read, write and understand English. Requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines and objectives. Requires the ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret general business information, governmental regulations, and technical/trade journals. Requires the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Requires the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, subordinates, vendors, other departments, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATIC SKILLS: Requires the ability to apply basic math concepts; calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide.
REASONING ABILITY: Requires the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out general written or oral instructions. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize work and pay attention to detail. Requires good analytical, organizational and management skills.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to raise, manipulate, maneuver tools, components and materials and handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. There are occasional requirements to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools and controls, and reach with hands and arms. May need to use computer terminal. Must have above average levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be physically able to lift equipment components, parts and machinery. Frequent standing, bending, stooping and/or walking are required. Must be able to use body members to work, move and lift or carry heavy objects, equipment or materials up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate a forklift, delivery vehicles and hand truck. Physical demand requirements are at levels for active work. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and color vision.
PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION: Must have the ability to talk (expressing and/or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words) and hear (perceiving sounds of nature by ear).
WORK CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS: Work is regularly performed in a basement that may be dimly lit with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, dust and airborne particles. Employee works with and near moving mechanical parts. There is some risk of occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and gases, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat and loud noises.
