Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time Campus Store Clerk. This position will assist the Campus Store Manager with basic administrative retail duties pertaining to the University retail store, and will also provide backup coverage for the campus Post Office when the Postal Services Coordinator is out.  The Campus Store Clerk will report directly to the Campus Store Manager.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and complete daily cash register, register receipts, and deposits.
• Maintain vault cash and balances.
• Daily processing and transmission of vendor invoices, credits, returns, and necessary paperwork to the Business Office.
• Supervise shipping and receiving.
• Assist in store operation.
• Assist in distribution of and charges for university stationery.
• Ensures merchandising standards and creation of displays are executed
• Learn basic postal service procedures and operations in order to cover campus Post Office on an as needed basis
• Understand and support the mission of Texas Lutheran University

Requirements:                                      

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year of retail experience.
• Cash handling experience
• Strong verbal, written communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to analyze facts and circumstances to determine appropriate action to be taken within the limits of standard practice. Some independent judgment is required.
• Ability to stay focused on details
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Possess relationship building and influential skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Overtime may be required during peak periods
• Experience with point-of-sale systems is preferred
• Knowledge of visual merchandising practices is preferred
• Basic accounting or bookkeeping experience or an aptitude for numbers is preferred
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
