The Temporary Campus Store Cashier serves as a customer service contact to help ensure student, faculty and staff bookstore needs are met. The Temporary Campus Store Cashier uses a point of sale register to process sales in a timely, accurate and efficient manner; receipts money, checks, credit/debit cards, gift certificates and financial aid payments and reconciles their cash drawer to prepare a balanced bank deposit. He/She assists with receiving, pricing and merchandising store items and maintains the store in a neat, clean and orderly manner. This position is seasonal and hours will vary.
Duties/Functions:
· Reconciles and balances a daily register deposit of cash, checks and charges
· Processes sales for textbooks, supplies, sundry/novelty items and financial aid charges using the point of sale system
· Assists in pricing, stocking and shelving of books, supplies and sundries
· Assists in receiving, verifying and checking-in of merchandise
· Answers incoming calls and assists customers with questions and concerns
· Ensures that the store is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and performs general cleaning duties between busy periods and at the beginning and end of the shift
· Assist the full time staff on special projects as assigned
· Possesses an awareness of all promotional items and advertisements
· Observes customer traffic and requests additional assistance as needed
· Demonstrate and model the College's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
· Helps provide backup support for the satellite campus bookstores
· Assists in training other new part time temporary cashiers as needed
· Attends daily and monthly staff meetings
· Communicates store policy and information in a positive and helpful manner each day
· Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

· Must receive/complete the following required annual training:
Reporting Requirements Anti-Harassment Personal Information Protection Shots Fired and other required annual training
Education Required:
· High School Diploma or equivalency required
KSA Required:
· Exhibits excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide information about the store, services and location of merchandise
· Ability to work with automated and manual accounting/records systems
· Exhibits analytical and problem solving ability that includes the ability to exercise good judgement in making decisions and to identify alternative courses of action based on area of responsibility
· Proficient use of the ten-key calculator, computers and POS cash registers as well as other standard office equipment
· Ability to interpret and apply college-wide and system-wide policies and procedures, federal, state and local regulations/guidelines as it pertains to service area
· Knowledge of basic math skills to accurately provide change, reconcile cash drawer and balance reports
· Ability to keep detailed records in an organized manner and to maintain an appropriate level of documentation for audit reviews
· Ability to display high levels of accuracy and trustworthiness in processing large volumes of monies/negotiable instruments while securing proper student information and appropriate endorsements
Physical Demands :
Ability to lift/move books, supplies and materials weighing up to 50 lbs using proper personal protective equipment and or assistance as needed
Ability to climb, stoop, walk and stand for long periods of time
